PRESS RELEASE / Goetz von Engelbrechten appointed to KWS SAAT AG Supervisory Board
(Einbeck, 10/11/05, Nr. 24 sst)
With effect from 7 November 2005 the concerned district court has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Goetz von Engelbrechten as Supervisory Board member of KWS SAAT AG. Mr. Goetz von Engelbrechten replaces Philip von dem Bussche who relinquished his duties as Supervisory Board member on 1 October 2005 to transfer to the company’s Executive Board.
With the 67 year old Goetz von Engelbrechten KWS gains an acknowledged agri-expert for the Supervisory Board. The President of the Lower Saxony Trade Association is a dedicated farmer, running a family business near Uelzen and is committed to nature conservation issues as a member of the WWF foundation board in Germany.
“Many years of working together have proved that Goetz von Engelbrechten is a major asset for our company”, declared Andreas J. Büchting, Chairman of the Executive Board. “During his previous activities for the KWS Group (1970-1992), most recently as general manager of Lochow-Petkus, our cereals company, he was instrumental in successfully building up the hybrid rye business. Even after he left the company he was always actively involved with KWS.”
In 1992 Goetz von Engelbrechten joined the Executive Board of the later Nordzucker AG, where he was Chairman until he moved to the Supervisory Board of the company in 2003. His expertise in the agrarian and sugar sector is especially relevant for KWS. His entrepreneurial skills, reflected in his position as President of the Lower Saxony Trade Association, are an added bonus.
Goetz von Engelbrechten will be proposed at the KWS SAAT AG annual general meeting on 18 January 2006 to be elected for the remaining term of office.
