Viscount - The UK's Premium Soft Wheat

At 105% of controls, our new winter wheat Viscount is the highest yielding premium soft wheat on the HGCA Recommended List.

No. 1 for Export

With a yield that is 3% ahead of Alchemy and 4% in front of Robigus, Viscount is first and foremost the highest yielding wheat suited for UK soft wheat exports.

It sits happily within the quality range required for UKS Soft Wheat branding, is acceptable for use in European soft wheat grists and has performed well in continental baking tests.

No. 1 Soft at Home

While NABIM cannot nail Viscount’s colours to the biscuit-making mast as a result of some inconclusive results from last harvest, we know that UK millers will be keen to test a variety that already has a 5% market share.

No. 1 Soft on Farm

On farm, Viscount is set to be one of the UK’s biggest wheats. Suiting a wide range of additional markets including distilling and bio-ethanol, plus good grain characteristics, Orange Wheat Blossom Midge Resistance and good disease resistance, expect to see Viscount on farm next season.

General quality is higher than uks we used in the past 2yrs. Dough is quite sticky but elasticity is very good, ideal to biscuit flours. Also good to blend with stronger wheat lacking plasticity or adjust alveos (decrease W & P/L). This seems a good alternative to good old Claire and Consort, better yields I suppose?
