What is BCN?

Cysts are activated in the soil and release the nematodes which then attack the roots of the beet.  The females swell and break out of the root eventually forming a hardened cyst when she dies.  These cysts can remain viable in the soil for 10 years and produce 2-4 generations each year.  Warmer soils and tighter crop rotations will increase the rate of reproduction.
