Rhino

The Powerful New Hybrid

  • High yielding hybrid
  • Consistent across seasons
  • Short and stiff strawed

Rhino is a hybrid variety bred by LS Plant Breeding

Rhino is a powerful new hybrid set to challenge the on-farm dominance of Excalibur.

With a higher gross output and a similar height, but a stiffer canopy than Excalibur, Rhino stands and delivers.

Indeed, it is the equal highest yielding newly Recommended hybrid variety for mainstream rape growing regions.

High Hybrid Yields

Rhino ‘charged’ onto the new UK Recommended List with yields at the same level as Compass and a 4% higher gross output than Excalibur.

Over the last three years, Rhino has consistently outperformed Excalibur, especially in more difficult rape growing seasons, proving its suitability across a wide range of seasons.

Rhino’s very high gross output performance is backed by a higher seed yield and a higher inherent oil content than Excalibur – characteristics which support its security and consistency of performance in official trials.

Powerful Canopy Structure

However, it is Rhino’s combination of improved stem stiffness and short straw that give it the potential to deliver so much more than both Excalibur and Compass in a difficult farm situation.

As a result, you can expect Rhino’s exceptional canopy structure, built on a more powerful, short, stiffer frame to help reduce lodging risks and improve harvest management.

On close inspection of the UK Recommended List you’ll find that there’s only one shorter hybrid and that’s a semi-dwarf.

Secure Agronomics

With an identical disease resistance package to Excalibur for light leaf spot and stem canker, it should only require a standard fungicide programme.

Compared to Compass, Rhino is earlier, has better stem canker resistance and better seed yields.
