United Kingdom Products Oilseed Rape Eiffel

Eiffel

The Landmark Variety

  • The ideal Castille replacement
  • Superb standing power
  • Low biomass
  • Very high yields and oils
  • High gross output

Eiffel is an open pollinating variety bred by Momont

Eiffel, like its namesake tower, has an exceptional architectural structure designed to help it withstand the wind.

Add to this its excellent straw strength and lodging resistance, and Eiffel’s canopy holds pods safe and secure prior to direct cutting.

When this is combined with a high gross output and oil content, Eiffel becomes an ideal replacement for Castille – maximising bottom-line profits from a crop structure that you know, and can rely on.

High Yields – High Oils

In East & West Region trials, Eiffel stands at 105% of controls for gross output; some 3% ahead of low biomass competitor Castille.

With a higher seed yield and an oil content that is 1.7% ahead of Castille, Eiffel will also provide a big oil premium on farm.

This means that with oilseed rape currently valued at £240/t, Eiffel provides gross outputs that are worth £60-70/ha more than those commonly secured by Castille.

Indeed in terms of total oil production, Eiffel gives an extra £180 for every lorry load you deliver.

Agronomically strong, Eiffel has an excellent canopy biomass and strength which is backed by good resistance to stem canker.

Slightly later maturing than Castille, Eiffel will also help spread the workload, with no need to swath.

So, taking all characteristics into account, Eiffel represents a significant step forward in terms of yield, while retaining the well structured biomass of Castille.

United Oilseeds Technical Manager, Richard Elsdon sees Eiffel as a direct replacer for Castille.

“Castille’s yields have dropped back over the last couple of years and Eiffel is in the ascendancy,” he says.

“Farmers appreciate Eiffel’s modest height, excellent standing ability and high yields.”

“Eiffel has also benefitted from Cruiser OSR as a seed treatment and this season’s crops look well set.”
