The Highest Yielding HEAR
Palmedor is a hybrid variety bred by LS Plant Breeding
As the highest yielding HEAR variety available to UK growers Palmedor even outperforms current market leader Marcant.
Combining very high yields with a high oil and erucic acid content, Palmedor has the potential to produce some of the highest gross margins possible from any rape crop.
Double-Low Like Yields
Palmedor outyields recognised conventional HEAR rapes by up to 21% and Marcant by 6%; seed yields in trials have broken the 4t/ha barrier.
Add to this an exceptional oil and very high erucic acid content, and Palmedor produces unbeatable erucic acid yields, significantly improving industrial output.
As a hybrid, Palmedor is quick to establish and then grow away again in the spring to make the most of field conditions.
While relatively tall at 171cm height some 23cm taller than Castille Palmedor has excellent stem stiffness characteristics (7) and lodging resistance (8).
In addition rated 8 for light leaf spot and with a 5 for stem canker Palmedor will ideally suit those areas where both diseases are an issue particularly in LLS regions such as the northern half of the UK.
While being medium flowering and relatively early to mature, Palmedor has anoptimum pod-fill period, with low early season risk of frost damage and an early harvest.
Being agronomically robust, it is a variety you can push hard for high yields and at the same time reap the rewards of the HEAR market.
