KREEL Leaflet [pdf, 0.08 MB]
An ideal all round combination of very early maturity and heavy yields make Kreel a leading candidate! The variety out yielded Ixxes by an average of 6% in 2008 trials, highlighting Kreel as a stable performer in a very challenging season.
Unlike the majority of NIAB Group 9 varieties, Kreel avoids the problem of a rapid dry down at harvest. This helps to avoid the risk of acidosis from excess starch in rations with a moderate to high level of maize silage.

Recommendation:
Kreel is one of the highest yielding varieties in all NIAB trials, between 2006 – 09. It is suitable for all less favourable sites offering very reliable maturity and stable yields.
Kreel can also be grown as a short season variety on favourable sites, either sown after a spring silage cut, or where a very early harvest is required.
